February's unusually clement weather is set for change as temperatures are set to plummet starting on Friday. This comes as the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a yellow cold health warning for multiple regions including the North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber and the South East.
Temperatures could drop as low as minus 7C in places this weekend as the cold weather alert remains in place from 9am on Friday (February 7) to 9am on Tuesday (February 11).
The wintry chill may result in icy patches that pose a danger, especially overnight. This yellow alert means the weather is likely to lead to an increased use of healthcare services by vulnerable people and a greater risk to life of vulnerable people.
And along with the return of the wintry weather, the latest Met Office weather maps also predict snow for parts of the UK. The latest weather maps show that from just after 6pm today, southern and central Wales will see snow, particularly around the Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains, with snow set to spread into North Wales as the evening goes on.
