Netflix & Roku Pick Up Wham! Doc
deadline.comNetflix and Roku have taken U.S. rights on the BBC and Blink Films‘ Wham! doc, which airs tomorrow. WHAM!: Last Christmas Unwrapped has been acquired from Sony Pictures Entertainment by Netflix and Roku for audiences in the U.S., SBS for Australia and TV New Zealand.
The doc tells the story of how George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s beloved 80s’ duo turned one song into a cultural phenomenon.
It launches tomorrow on the BBC and the following day in the U.S. We unveiled trailer late last week, which can be seen below.
Directed by BAFTA and Golden Globe-nominated Nigel Cole (Calendar Girls, Made in Dagenham), the show includes an exclusive broadcast of Michael performing “Last Christmas” at Wembley Arena in December 2006 along with never before seen outtakes from the original 35mm music video footage.
