Ahead of its fourth-quarter results later on Tuesday, global streaming giant Netflix said original series Lupin, starring Omar Sy, has become "our biggest French hit." The company, led by co-CEOs Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos, is forecasting that the crime drama, which debuted on the service on Friday, would be viewed by 70 million subscribers within its first 28 days.
It has "already ranked no. 1 in the top 10 in dozens of countries, including Brazil, Vietnam, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Sweden and many more," the company said.
Created by George Kay, the show is inspired by the popular novels by Maurice Leblanc about gentleman thief and master of disguise Arsène Lupin.
