At the same time, players like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Zion Williamson, Rudy Gobert and Blake Griffin have shone a light on the billionaire owners of their teams.
Giannis, Zion, Rudy and Blake were among the first to announce they were donating thousands of dollars in wages to help unpaid staff during the shutdown.
But the silence from some team owners on an issue vital to the livelihoods of employees across the league has until recently been deafening.
