Friday May 29 is Michael Jordan Day on BT Sport ESPN with the channel taking a look at his early days by replaying some of the greatest games of his college career.
But while Jordan is widely regarded as the greatest professional basketball player of all time - he is NOT remembered as the greatest college player the sport has ever seen.
Who is? A man by the name of Lew Alcindor. Those of you who lived through the era of Jordan’s two “three-peats” with the Chicago Bulls, chronicled recently in Netflix 's The Last Dance, know the intro: “And NOW… from North Carolina… at guard… 6’6”… Michael… JORDAN!” But before he joined the Bulls, he cut his teeth in college - with mixed results.
