NatWest has issued an apology to customers after a glitch left them unable to access their accounts or initiate payments via the mobile app on Friday morning.

The bank has confirmed that the issue has now been addressed and resolved. The banking group said NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland's (RBS) mobile applications were disrupted by the technical issue.

Users on social media reported encountering errors and being forcibly logged out of the app on Friday morning. According to outage monitor website Down Detector, hundreds of reports were submitted by NatWest and RBS customers.

The error coincided with the last working day of the month, which is typically when many employees receive their salaries. READ MORE: Banking hub opens in town that lost all its branches A spokesman for NatWest issued an apology to customers.
