Residents living in a south Manchester neighbourhood claim they have been plagued for months by ‘cat-sized rats’. Yasmin Rakha, 40, says the rat infestation outside her home on Fleeston Street, in Rusholme, is so bad her children are afraid to go outside.
Despite contacting Manchester City Council, she claims the problem has yet to be fixed and continues to find dead mice inside her house, reports the Manchester Evening News. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community Yasmin said: “Cat-sized rats run along the street, alleyway, fences, and die inside our house - my daughters [aged three and five] are frightened.
Because of this I refuse to let my children play outside, and we won’t leave doors open ever.” Yasmin went on to describe how the only action taken so far was to use rat poison, which is costly, but resident Nyla Ali says they are resistant to the toxins.
Nyla, 28, said: “I’ve adopted a cat because the rats are immune to the poison - they have gotten huge in the last six months.
