Our daughter was just four, and we’d been discussing having another child. Suddenly, he’d bailed out of our eight-year marriage and moved in with my replacement, a woman he’d met at work.I was angry, hurt and shocked.
Our daughter visited them every two weeks, and every time she went, I hated handing her over to Laura*, her new stepmother. Luckily, my little girl is calm and adaptable, and since then, she’s become very fond of Laura, whom I can’t fault – she’s kind, patient and puts the parenting time in.
I can’t say the same of my ex, who seems to have gone out of his way to make life difficult for us – quibbling over every penny, and randomly changing arrangements at the last minute.
