Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Music Box Films’ genre label, Doppelgänger Releasing, has acquired U.S. distribution rights from Global Screen on satirical thriller “You Are Not Me.” The film will have a theatrical release in selected theaters followed by a home entertainment release. “You Are Not Me” (“Tú no eres yo”) is the debut feature from Goya-nominated Marisa Crespo and Moisés Romera.
The Spanish-language film launched at Fantastic Fest in Austin, before having its international premiere at Imagine Film Festival Amsterdam.
The film centers on Aitana, who returns home for Christmas, the first time after three years, to find that her parents have replaced her with an unknown woman who is being treated like their daughter.
She is her own age, sleeping in her bed, wearing her clothes, living in her house, and treated by her parents as if she were their daughter.
