A mum was left 'devastated' after finding out her beloved dog had been left "rotting" in the vets for five weeks after it died.

Dawn Stanley says she has "cried everyday" since she was woken up at 6.45am with a call from the vet saying her pup Dotty, who had passed away over a month ago, had been left "in storage".

The 56-year-old first took the Lhasa Apso to the vet with an "upset tummy" back in August. Dotty was sent home the same day after being deemed well enough, however just a few hours later she was in a 'terrible state' and had to be rushed to PDSA Huyton.

Vets Now staff, who run a nighttime emergency clinic, admitted the pup to care for her. Dawn said she "can't fault" the service and thanked the"brilliant and lovely" staff who looked after Dotty, the Liverpool Echo reports.
