The Motability Scheme has issued an update in a bid to help more people see if they can claim extra support. It highlighted to customers that it has "updated our look to show who we are, what we do, and what we stand for." The new look includes a new logo, updated design, and most importantly, simplified and easy to understand information for those looking to see if they're able to benefit form the scheme.
The scheme, run by Motability Operations, allows people claiming certain disability benefits with a higher or enhanced rate of mobility component award to transfer some or all of their payments to lease a new car, scooted, or wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
Those claiming Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independece Payment (PIP), Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP), and War Pensioners' Mobility Suplement (WPMS) are eligible for the scheme.
The scheme also helps customers with the cost of maintenance, repairs, and insurance. Motability Operations' CEO Andrew Miller, previously said of the scheme: "We're working with car manufacturers and our partners with the aim of providing our customers with stand-out value and the scheme is 45% cheaper on average compared to alternative options. "During this period of rising costs and an unprecedented period of change for the car industry, we're committed to ensuring the sustainability of the scheme so that we can continue to keep our customers connected now and in the long term." If you're unsure of whether you are eligible for the Motability Scheme or not, you can use the Motability Scheme's handy online tool here.
