Scots cops raided more than 14,000 illegal house parties in the last year while trying to enforce coronavirus lockdown rules.
At times they were dealing with more than 200 a day, according to figures obtained by the Sunday Mail which outline the toll of Covid restrictions on policing.In one incident, officers visited a house in Fife where 20 people were partying within an inflatable pub in the back garden.Police also found a flat in Edinburgh that had been specially rented by 10 men to watch football on the television.House parties were a major problem for Police Scotland during Operation Talla – the codename for the force’s response to the pandemic.The force was granted new powers last August to break up house parties that flouted.
