Liverpool, Newcastle and Real Madrid striker was once regarded as the best footballer England had ever produced when he burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion at Liverpool.
But now he is often scrutinised for his punditry and it could be said that he has fallen victim to recency bias when thought about.The striker, for all the good he did on the pitch, revealed how bored he was with the food, trips and hotels during his expansive footballing career.
The pundit and racehorse owner spoke about how despite flying around the world playing for England, he would spend most of it killing time after training and after dinner.
He has also claimed that being a footballer was similar to being a monk, with footballers unable to go to many places and not being able to eat a number of things.
