Love Island star Dale Mehmet has spoken out in support of Gemma Owen’s decision to keep her famous father’s identity a secret, saying it’s “not anybody’s business.” Since the eighth series of the ITV2 dating series returned to the silver screens, all anyone has been able to talk about is the former footballer’s 19-year-old daughter.

Over the past week and a half, the dressage star has caught the eye of Italian stallion Davide Sanclimenti, 27, and Luca Bish, 23, which has caused a stir online.Arguably, one of the main topics on everybody’s lips has been when or if the brunette beauty will decide whether or not to tell her fellow contestants about her father’s sporting fame. But the Glaswegian hunk explained that it’s “not anyone’s business” whether or not she decides to share the fact that Michael Owen is her father. In an exclusive interview with Daily Star, the 25-year-old explained that viewers need to stop speculating when Gemma will share the news in the villa and let her focus on finding love.He said: “To be fair it’s not anybody’s business, I mean if she wanted to then that’s on her but she seems to be doing well enough not to tell them about her dad at the end of the day.“I know when I was in there, I loved chatting about my family, do you know what I mean?

But I've not got a superstar dad.”Dale went on to admit that he can understand why she wants to keep her dad’s identity under wraps in order to avoid clouding other Islander’s impression of her on the show.He added: “Obviously, for someone who’s always been in the spotlight before, maybe she doesn’t want to change how people would look at her differently.“Because as much as people outside, and even in the press it is a big thing, they like to make it known that.
