Michael Mosley has revealed the biggest signs you are not getting enough sleep at night.The health expert, famed for his Fast 800 and 5:2 diets, spoke to Professor Russell Foster - director of the Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute at the University of Oxford - all about sleep.During the Just One Long Thing podcast special, Professor Foster confirmed that people shouldn't be obsessed with the "mythical eight hours of sleep", as there is a recommended range of dozing off.According to the National Sleep Foundation, a perfectly healthy range of sleep is between six to 10 and a half hours, potentially even 11.Professor Foster said: "These sorts of instructions and almost demands, that you must get eight hours of sleep, generate huge anxiety and what we've got now is sleep anxiety - and people will will feel terrified that they won't get the amount of sleep they've been told they need rather than listening to their own sleep and individual needs."Michael asked the age-old question - "How do you know if you're getting enough sleep?" - and Professor Foster told people to ask themselves the following questions.He explained: "But the question you should ask yourself is, do you feel that you can perform at your peak during the day and we all know when we're not firing on all cylinders. "But also, if you oversleep extensively on free days, and particularly when you go on holiday that can really unmask you know your endogenous sleep pattern.
