Metrolink trams stopped on Salford line following 'fault'

Trams have been stopped on part of Salford's Metrolink line due to a fault. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) says there are currently no services running between MediaCityUK and Eccles due to the issue this afternoon (January 25).

Passengers are advised to use bus services as an alternative, with Metrolink tickets being accepted on several Bee Network services while the fault persists.

Trams on the line from Ashton-under-Lyne are terminating at MediaCityUK. In an update online, a Transport for Greater Manchester spokesperson said: "Due to a tram fault at Eccles tram stop, there is currently no service on the line between MediaCityUK and Eccles.Services will operate between Ashton-under-Lyne and MediaCityUK. "Tram ticket acceptance is in the place on the following local bus services: 10, 29, 33, 50, 52, 53, 67, 79, 100 and 248.

We're sorry for any inconvenience caused, whilst we work to resolve the issue." It's not currently known how long the disruption will last.
