But before they arrived, scenes of mayhem had unfolded. Officers have watched 'extensive' CCTV footage from the scene and now believe several criminal offences took place.
GMP says members of the public were assaulted with fire extinguishers, which were stolen from the precinct, while youths were seen interfering with and jumping on vehicles.
Items were also stolen from a grocery shop and used as missiles to throw at buses, while bins were also set on fire in the area.
