With Christmas and New Year out of the way, most people are getting back into their normal routines But the first weekend of 2025 is expected to be full of disruptive weather.
The Met Office has issued two amber alerts with both warnings covering Greater Manchester. The first, warning of snowand ice, runs from 6pm on Saturday (January 4) to midday on Sunday.
In these areas, the Met Office says 'snow and freezing rain will likely lead to disruption to transport and some other services'.
A separate amber warning for snow has been issued, running from 9pm on Saturday to 11.59pm on Sunday. It covers northern areas of Greater Manchester - including parts of Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and Wigan boroughs.
