Three men have been charged following a terrorism investigation in Greater Manchester. Cordons were last week put in place at four addresses in Wigan and Bolton as part of the probe by Counter Terrorism Policing North West.

And in an update issued this evening (Monday, May 13) Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had authorised charges against individuals.

They are Walid Saadaoui 36, of Crankwood Road, Abram, and Amar Hussein, 50, of no fixed address, who have both been charged with preparation of terrorist acts, contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. All three have been remanded into custody to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court in London tomorrow (Tuesday). GMP said officers had been patrolling the areas around the cordons but they had all now been lifted. "We thank local communities for their patience and co-operation" they said.
