Teenager left with serious head injuries after "vicious" attack by three men on bikes

A teenager suffered serious head injuries in a "vicious" attack after being followed by three men on bikes. The 17-year-old was assaulted in Higher Road, Urmston last night.

Today he remains in hospital and extra police patrols have been deployed to the area. Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area yesterday evening and may have seen something suspicious to come forward and speak to officers.

They were called to the scene at about 10pm and the 17-year-old was taken to hospital with a cut to the side of his head. READ MORE: Driver in car stolen from Greater Manchester leads police on high-speed chase before getting stuck in subway In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: "From conducting initial enquiries, detectives have established that the victim was involved in an altercation at a pub on Stretford Road, the victim was then followed near to Higher Road park by approximately three men on bikes who chased him and cut the side of his head.

The 17-year-old victim remains in hospital for treatment to his injuries which are considered serious but not life- threatening." Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Walton, of GMP’s Trafford district, said: “This is a vicious attack on a 17-year-old boy who has sustained a nasty injury to the side of his head.
