Meghan Markle is missing King Charles’ Coronation because of the “scrutiny” she would face if she attended, a close friend reportedly said.
The Duchess of Sussex, 41, is skipping the historic occasion at Westminster Abbey on 6 May, although it was confirmed last week that husband Prince Harry will be there.
Meghan has instead chosen to stay at home in Montecito, California, where she will celebrate the birthday of their eldest child Archie, who turns four on the same day as the Coronation.
The news that the Duke of Sussex, 38, would be going to the monumental event without the Duchess put an end to months of ‘will they/won’t they’ speculation over the pair’s attendance, which was cast into doubt after Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare directed criticism towards the Royal Family on its release in January.
