King Charles' heartwarming gesture to Meghan Markle on her wedding day to Prince Harry left the late Queen "not comfortable" according to a new book.The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot in May 2017 in a fairy tale Windsor wedding with all their nearest and dearest packed into St George's chapel to see them exchange vows.The former Suits actress looked gorgeous in a stunning Givenchy wedding gown and everything appeared to run smoothly on the big day.However, in the lead up to the wedding, there had been a lot of tension in the family, especially when it came to Meghan's estranged dad, the Mirror reports.With less than a week to go before the big day, Thomas Markle announced he would not be attending due to a health scare leaving the distressed bride with nobody to walk her down the aisle.Fortunately, Meghan's future father-in-law Charles, who was still Prince of Wales at the time, kindly offered to step in as he told her he would be honoured to escort her to the altar of the chapel.However, in a brand new book, it's claimed that the late Queen Elizabeth, who attended the ceremony alongside her late husband Prince Philip, was "not comfortable" with certain elements of the service.
Writing in her new book, My Mother and I, royal biographer Ingrid Seward says: "The Queen was not comfortable with the Prince of Wales standing in for Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, and was similarly concerned about a 96-year-old Prince Philip walking down the aisle without a stick, having had a hip replacement only five weeks before."
