Instead, the Argentine turned to Premier League champions Manchester City and a surprising pick from league-leaders Liverpool for his three selections.
From City, Pochettino named Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero as his first two picks. De Bruyne is considered one of the best midfielders in the world and leads the Premier League with 16 assists - four more than the nearest player.
