Mary Berry has shared a recipe for a traditional Scottish dessert "with a twist" she says makes it perfect for Christmas.As part of her one-off Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas special on BBC One on Wednesday evening, the iconic TV personality and cook prepared a special festive treat that incorporated the traditional Scottish dessert of cranachan.A cranachan is among the most famous Andy Murray and his grandmother Shirley dishes, and consists of porridge oats, whisky, fresh raspberries, and whipped cream.
On the show, Mary revealed that it was one of her Scottish mother's "great favourites".For her "twist" on the classic dessert, Mary revealed on the programme that she was going to prepare a 'cranachan pavlova wreath'.Describing the unique dessert as a "stunning showstopper", the TV chef revealed that she was going to combine the recipe with a classic pavlova to form a wreath.
Mary described it as “deceptively simple to make” before revealing all of the steps on the television programme.Other highlights of Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas included an appearance by tennis legend Andy Murray and his grandmother Shirley, with whom Mary shared her recipe for "one of [her] all-time favourite breakfasts".
