Mark Labbett, 57, has become one of the most recognisable faces on British TV since he landed the job as a Chaser on ITV’s The Chase in 2009.The show is still going strong and Mark has gained a reputation as one of the most formidable opponents the contestants can come up against. However, Mark admits that he does have some gaps in his knowledge that The Chase hopefuls can use to their advantage. He said in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk: “I deliberately keep one area weak and that’s soap operas because, as I modestly put it, Superman needs kryptonite.  “There has got to be a topic that when it comes up, Bradley starts capering around because he knows I don’t know it and the contestants go, ‘Hey, we know he doesn’t know this!’  “Having said that, if my job depended on it, I would close that gap in a couple of weeks, but we need that vulnerability.”The quizzer even joked that he and co-star Paul Sinha once feared for their jobs because they were so “unstoppable”.

He continued: “Paul and I have had series where we have virtually not lost.  “We joke about it that if we get much better, they are going to fire us!  “Ultimately, if they know you are going to win every game then the British public will stop watching. "We need to be vulnerable and we need to be beatable.”During our chat, Mark also shared his thoughts on The Chase’s ongoing popularity, 13 years since it first aired.Recalling the early days of the show, Mark remarked: “I used to joke that we were the best show you had never heard of.“We never got reviewed, we never got covered by the conventional TV people, but the public seemed to love us."Plus, we seem to get ratings that half the primetime shows would kill for!“I always joke, we are only popular with.
