Lyon centre-half Marcelo admits talks were held with Liverpool in January as the Reds frantically tried to sign a defender. Jurgen Klopp saw his centre-half options depleted with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all sidelined.
A host of defenders were linked with moves to Anfield as they faced a race against time to bring in reinforcements. Ben Davies ended up arriving from Preston before Ozan Kabak followed him on loan from Schalke.
Prior to that though Marcelo's agent spoke to Liverpool about a switch as his contract continued to wind down in France. The 33-year-old will see his deal expire in the summer meaning he would've been available on the cheap.
