Manchester United set out timetable for Old Trafford redevelopment plans

Manchester United expect to have a design in place for the redevelopment of Old Trafford in the next four months. United appointed master planners Legends and Populus to work on the plans in the middle of April and the first stage of their work is to establish a "high-level design and business case".

That is expected to be complete by the end of September at the latest, at which point a more detailed approach to carrying out the recommended work can take place. But chief operating officer Collette Roche told the most recent fans' forum in April that redeveloping Old Trafford was the club's top priority. "Our current focus is on developing our existing stadium into a world-class facility – ensuring it meets the needs of our fans and players whilst retaining the history and legacy which makes it so special and unique," she said.

When Legends and Populus were appointed last month they said work would commence immediately on "developing options for Old Trafford and studying their feasibility", but a redevelopment of the existing ground is now leading the approach.
