Manchester United rejected a £50million bid from Chelsea for back-up goalkeeper Dean Henderson two summers ago, it has been revealed.
Henderson, who excelled in two successive loan seasons at Sheffield United, returned to Old Trafford in the summer of 2020 knowing he would have to unseat David de Gea to claim the number one spot.
The Englishman, who has also lost ground to Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale in the battle to be England's number one, has been unable to forge a starting role for himself, with de Gea now enjoying some of his very best form.
It leaves Henderson in the lurch, with reports of United rejecting a £50 million offer only adding another layer of complexity to his situation.
