Manchester United strengthened their midfield options with the addition of England international Mason Mount. Less than a week after reaching a £60million agreement with Chelsea, United unveiled the 24-year-old as their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Mount has put pen to paper on an initial five-year deal at Old Trafford with the option of an additional year. Manager Erik ten Hag had made recruiting a younger midfielder one of his primary objectives, along with signing a striker, long before the window opened last month.
Mount, who is a Champions League winner, reduces the average age of the Reds' midfield options and adds some much-needed energy to that area of the team.
He is widely expected to compete with Christian Eriksen for the No.8 berth, meaning he could join forces with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in United's strongest midfield-three.
