Wes Brown has branded Jamie Carragher “silly” for trying to compare Virgil van Dijk and Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic.
Carragher sparked a flurry of debate on social media when he argued that Van Dijk was a better defender than five-time Premier League winner Vidic, after criticism was aimed at the Liverpool defender upon Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
The Sky Sports pundit referenced Vidic’s performances against Fernando Torres during his stay at United, inferring he struggled against the striker.
One of those to hit back at Carragher was Rio Ferdinand who questioned the "myth" regarding his former United defensive partner.
