Goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has apologised to Paul Mullin after his challenge left the Wrexham star with a punctured lung during Manchester United's 3-1 defeat to the League Two side.
The former Southend United shot-stopper, who has recently been linked with a move to Sunderland, came charging out of his goal when Mullin raced clear at the Snapdragon Stadium.
The Wrexham striker got to the ball first, meaning Bishop clattered into the 28-year-old. The striker, who played a key role in Wrexham's promotion from the National League last season, required oxygen on the pitch and was treated by medical staff from both clubs.
It resulted in a lengthy first-half stoppage but he was able to walk off the pitch. He was taken to hospital and Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson confirmed that he had suffered a punctured lung, resulting in him blasting Bishop, who was booed relentlessly by a large portion of the crowd before being replaced by Radek Vitek at half-time.
