A driver luckily escaped after landing on a railway track in a dramatic collision. All trains have been stopped on the line which runs through Eccles this morning (February 7).
It follows a collision in the early hours at the Regent Road roundabout, in Salford. A car was seen landing on its roof on the railway line beneath the roundabout.
Officers cordoned off the scene this morning. Remarkably, the driver survived. They were arrested by police at the scene. The incident is causing chaos on one of the North West's busiest routes.
Services between Newton-le-Willows and Manchester have been cancelled, with rail replacement buses being used. The issue is affecting commuters heading from Merseyside to Manchester city centre.
