A knifeman who fatally stabbed the 15-year-old son of his estranged partner before trying to flee the country on a dinghy has been found guilty of murder.
Suleman Altaf, 45, also tried to murder his ex during a horrifying attack at her family home in Miles Platting. Teenager Jakub Szymanski died after he heroically stepped in and saved his mother Katarzyna Bastek as Altaf stabbed her.
Altaf was discovered almost 24 hours later on a dinghy in the English channel, and had to be rescued by an RNLI crew. On Tuesday, after four days of deliberations, he was found guilty of murdering Jakub.
He was also convicted of the attempted murder of Ms Bastek, who suffered serious injuries, and of possessing a knife in a public place.
