Manchester United have been warned that even a summer of heavy recruitment won't be enough to make them Premier League title contenders.
Instead, a wealth of new signings can make them a top four club, according to former player Lee Sharpe, who has doubts over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's capability to lead United forward.
Inconsistency has hindered the Red Devils this term but the Norwegian has repeatedly said he has the support of the club's hierarchy.
Sharpe has advised United to seek reinforcements in attack, defence and on the flanks but is still sceptical as to whether they can close the gap on rivals Manchester City and Liverpool .
