Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has once again been rewarded for his performances. The Portugal international, who moved to Old Trafford from Sporting in January of 2020, has now won four Premier League player of the month awards in just seven months of competition.
The 26-year-old has managed 19 goals and 14 assists across only 31 league appearances since joining United, with three and four of the respective tallies coming last month.
Not only has he gone within three wins of Sergio Aguero’s record of seven, but he has drawn level with Cristiano Ronaldo and surpassed both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. “Thank you very much to every fan that voted for me,” Fernandes told the official United website.
