Eccles Parish Church were cordoned off by police following the attack at about 6.30pm on Thursday. Police say the man, 26, suffered a stab wound to his arm during a fight with another man.His condition is described as stable.Police say no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

In a statement GMP said: "At around 6.40pm on Thursday police were called to reports of a stabbing on Church Street in Eccles. "Initial enquiries have established that the incident happened during an altercation between two men.
