Where Pep Guardiola is concerned it is usually a case of 'don't mention the subs'. The Manchester City manager rarely takes kindly to be quizzed on his strategy when it comes to replacements, responding with either a heavy dollop of sarcasm or a response that suggests he does, actually, know best.
There was an irony in City winning at Chelsea back in January as a result of two of Guardiola's subs combining, just days after he had been questioned for leaving it until the 87th minute to make alterations to his team when they were drawing at home to Everton.
In the Stamford Bridge press room, Guardiola quipped that he'd been decisive with his changes that night because he'd listened to the journalist who had asked him about his substitutes the previous day.
