Man City 'beat' Premier League in legal battle with serious impact on rival clubs

Manchester City have reportedly won their legal battle with the Premier League over its Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules.

The rules are designed to limit how much associated parties can pay clubs in sponsorship and have been operating for almost three years now.

However, a new verdict has sided with City and deemed that the league's regulations were unlawful in their entirety. Man City took the Premier League to court over the rules after proposed deals with Etihad Airways and First Abu Dhabi Bank were blocked in 2023.

The club claimed the rules that prohibited commercial deals clubs could do were unlawful. After a tribunal agreed with City in September last year and an independent panel has reportedly decided in City's favour.
