A large police cordon is in place this morning after a car smashed into a bollard in south Manchester. Emergency services were scrambled to reports of a vehicle colliding into a bollard on Brownley Road, Manchester, at around 11:10pm on Monday night (January 20).
Witnesses report seeing several police vans and an ambulance on the scene at around midnight. A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, with the man also arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a sample.
The pair were also treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening or changing. Police remain at the scene this morning to search for reported suspicious items, with a large cordon still in place around Brownley Road and Altrincham Road.
Residents spoke to the M.E.N. of hearing a 'loud crash' on Monday night. "Then they closed the whole road off and weren't letting anyone through, not even dogwalkers," one woman said. "I had a builder who was meant to be coming round to my house at 9 and they wouldn't let him in, but they never told us why.
