An elderly man was pulled from a canal after falling down an embankment in Bury. Police, paramedics and fire crews were all sent to the scene just off Wellington Street at 4.30pm on Wednesday, April 6.
An 83-year-old man had to be pulled from the water using rope rescue equipment, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said.
Three hazardous area response teams, two rapid response vehicles, a land ambulance, fire crews and police vehicles were also sent.
