Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has issued a statement after emergency services have rushed to a scene in a Greater Manchester town centre.
GMP has said that emergency services responded to a concern for welfare at Stockport train station this morning (January 28).
Just after 5am, a man aged 52 was pronounced dead. A number of roads around the station are closed as enquiries continue. Follow live updates from the scene here. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson has said: "Emergency services are currently responding to a concern for welfare at Stockport train station. "Sadly just after 5am, a 52-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A scene remains in place with several roads around the station closed." Police remain at the scene near Stockport Interchange, on Astley Street, where it meets Viaduct Street.
