Emergency work is due to begin on Monday (November 11) to repair a gas pipe under one of the busiest junctions in Stockport town centre.
Cadent, which manages the local gas network, have said they are investigating the source of a smell of gas near to where Corporation Street meets Warren Street, just beside the ASDA superstore.
They say they believe the most likely source is a key distribution pipe running directly under this junction, so the road will need to be closed to allow engineers to access it from Monday morning onwards (November 11).
