The late Lord of the Rings star Bernard Hill left a modest sum of just over £200,000 to his son Gabriel Hill in his will. The actor, who passed away last May at the age of 79, had a total of £255,957 at the time of his death.

However, after funeral expenses and other costs were deducted, the amount was reduced to £206,415.According to reports, Bernard's will stated that he left all his belongings to his son Gabriel, with nine-tenths of his trust fund also going to him and the remaining tenth to his partner, Alison Bold.

Bernard is best known for his role as King Théoden of Rohan in Peter Jackson's award-winning Lord of the Rings trilogy, which won 11 Oscars and grossed $1billion (£790million) at the box office.

He also played Captain Edward Smith in the 1997 blockbuster film Titanic, reports the Mirror. However, Bernard was noticeably absent from the In Memoriam tribute at the BAFTA awards on Sunday (February 16), which included late stars such as Dame Maggie Smith, Twin Peaks director David Lynch, and A Star is Born actor Kris Kristofferson.
