Prime Minister Boris Johnson will set out a "road map" for relaxing England's coronavirus lockdown measures on February 22.
The third national lockdown was imposed on January 5 as confirmed cases and deaths soared while the new and more infectious Kent variant spread out of control.
It appears some restrictions could continue until April, May or even June as measures are lifted in a slow, gradual approach.
The first step is likely to be the staggered reopening of schools from March 8. The Government's phased lifting of rules relies heavily on a successful rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine and mutant strains being kept under control.
