Sudden lightning bolt leaves nine cows dead in field after torrential storm

The animals were spotted lying lifeless in a field, by a passing driver the Irish Examiner reports.The poor cows were caught in fierce storms in Dunlicky, County Clare, on the west coast of Ireland, when the shocking incident happened.It comes after Met Éireann, the Irish weather service, issued alerts for most of the country, warning of thunderstorms, hail and flooding.It is thought the cows were electrocuted in one of multiple lightning strikes which hit the area during the early afternoon.One passer-by reported seeing the animals as they drove along the scenic Dunlicky Road towards Kilkee."There was a lot of thunderstorm activity in the area at the time and the sky blackened all of a sudden.
