Capital Gazette reported that officials initially began searching for Orellana after he failed to turn up to court on gang-related charges related to when members beat a 15-year-old boy for refusing to join the notorious international criminal gang in 2017. After a search that lasted months by the Anne Arundel County authorities, Orellana's body was eventually found dismembered in a park and, after an autopsy, it was revealed that he had been stabbed more than 100 times.The murder is believed to be the work of a number of members of the La Mara Salvatrucha, more commonly known as MS-13.
