Kilmarnock-born police officer will run 103 miles from Irvine to Edinburgh after dad's cancer fight
North Ayrshire town's harbour this September.Christopher's dad David, 65, was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2019 and has since gone through multiple operations to save his life.In 2020, Christopher – who had never ran a marathon before – decided to go on the gruelling trek, not just for his dad but in honour of those who lose their lives every year to cancer.The 35-year-old told Ayrshire Live: "Every year in the UK, 166,000 people lose their battle with cancer and that's how many steps it will take to complete the 103-mile course."Dad underwent treatment and had to have a couple of nasty operations which was not nice to see but thankfully he's doing okay now.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your
