Elections will go ahead as planned in May as the country tries to return to normal from the coronavirus pandemic. Ballots were shelved last spring as Britain battled the first Covid-19 wave.
But this year's polls, due on May 6, will go ahead in England – despite fears the pandemic would force another delay. The Cabinet Office said polls could go ahead safely, as it expected to have vaccinated the top nine priority groups by May.
A bumper set of votes are due to be held across England, with electors choosing a mixture of councillors, local mayors, regional mayors and police commissioners.
