Local elections across the UK will take place in May for more than 200 local authorities, including all 33 London boroughs and 34 metropolitan boroughs in England.

In Greater Manchester, hundreds of candidates will be eager to win seats on the region's 10 councils. Voters in each borough will be choosing at least one councillor in each ward – but there are 'all out' elections in Bury and Rochdale with all seats up for grabs.

Labour currently runs nine councils in the city-region - although no party has a majority in Stockport - while the Conservatives are in power at Bolton council.
