Liz Wise Lyall Returns to Lifetime as Senior VP of Scripted Programming and Development

Matt Minton mminton@variety.com Lifetime has named Liz Wise Lyall as its senior vice president of scripted programming and development.

The role marks a return to the cabler for Lyall. She started off at Lifetime as a manager before being promoted to a director, working on movies like “The Pregnancy Pact” with Thora Birch, “To Be Fat Like Me” starring Kaley Cuoco and “Girl, Positive” featuring Jennie Garth.

She also worked on creative partnerships with Salma Hayek, Garth Brooks and Gale Anne Hurd. In her new role, Lyall will be responsible for leading the network’s scripted co-productions and film production strategy, overseeing the development of original films while working to expand strategic acquisitions and partnerships. “Lifetime movies are iconic and a genre in of itself so I could not be more thrilled to have Liz return with her deep understanding and knowledge of Lifetime movies,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vice president of programming for A&E, Lifetime and LMN. “Liz’s energy coupled with her experience in bringing teams together will help drive further growth for our movie team.” Before rejoining Lifetime, Lyall spent over 14 years at The CW, where she managed current programming, scripted development and international co-productions.

She played a pivotal role in overseeing shows like “Superman & Lois,” “Riverdale,” “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “The 100” and “iZombie.” Her latest role there was senior vice president, head of scripted programming.
